Huge! 73.7ct red Fire Opal nugget
This is a great piece! This richly saturated red fire opal crystal features a well polished luster and incredible translucency, and even has some of its original matrix! Since opals are organic and have lighter density than other gems, they have a greater size to weight ratio giving them more more surface for their carat weight. This very large example measures 29mm x 26mm x 21mm, and was sourced from Welo, Ethiopia. Heated only.
