Zircon

Zircon is heaviest of any gem type, having an extremely high gravity and density. It occurs in many colors, including blue, gray, green, yellow, reddish brown, and even colorless. These hues can be altered with heat treatments, which is common in changing the brown hue to a more desirable color. Prior to World War II, valuable blue zircons were readily available in any size up to 25 carats; however now it is difficult to find specimens as large as 10 carats. Due to its high refractive index, zircons are sometimes substituted for diamonds, although they don’t have the same play of color. Zircon has been an important asset in radiometric dating since they can withstand virtually any natural disaster, chemical attack, or even erosion. They can be recorded in rings almost like a tree and provide important evolution information. It is believed that zircon can help bring visions and dreams into reality, provide physical, emotional, and spiritual balance, as well as bringing abundance and prosperity to the family of the wearer.
