Quartz
After feldspar, quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth’s crust and an essential mineral for one of the most popular countertops, granite. There are a wide variety of gems that are cut from quartz types, such as amethyst, citrine, Herkimer diamond, smoky quartz, agate, onyx, and many more! Ancient Greeks philosophers believed it to be a form of supercooled ice, calling it “krustallos” meaning “icy cold.” Quartz is known for its ability to balance and is thought to be harmonizing one’s environment. It is also thought to amplify healing energy especially for arthritis, depression, fatigue, and bone injuries.
